Brer Rabbit is usually a solitary trickster, so this story where he actually gets some collective action going to deal with a resource-hoarding tiger is fun!

The story where he decides to get married solely because he was tired of doing housework, though: Boo!

Read this years ago when I was in high school and, given the title, I forgot the first third was fully human stories - starting off pretty dark, too, with ‘A slave’s dangerous courtship.’ Dangerous because the sons of his girlfriend’s master wanted her for themselves and kept trying to kill Simon (the guy who told Faulkner these stories - so at least you know from the start he survived!)
