This book has high praise in the reviews but I cant say we are off to an exciting start

A pleasant surprise. Maybe a bit didactic, but still very effective.

I don’t trust this guy

I’m afraid to say that I couldn’t get past the first 40 pages and even that was forced. I remain eager to know what the story is but I simply do not have the patience to complete it, although I do admit my expectations were a bit high given that Gillian Flynn reviewed the book favourably.

Too dry and long drawn and not in any nice manner, there is no build up to anything either.
So, sadly, it’s a no from me.

Atelier book club round twooooo!!!

I came onto goodreads to see the comments and if it was worth continuing. I skimmed read from that page to page 74 where the story seems to be actually starting. The previous pages seem just setting the scene and droning in about a failed marriage and how perfect the lead character finds himself.

not book related, but why do i keep finding random HAIR in all of the library books that Ive taken out recently??? Is that a common thing for TPL books??? I keep getting jumpscared by other people’s hair just tucked into random pages

Smh, okay. So, the MC finds himself kissing someone he recently met. His inner monologue describes how it’s too soon because sex is spiritual to him or whatever. But — hold the fucking phone — you’re kissing someone in a public place. WHAT about that has ANYTHING to do with sex??? Why can’t a kiss just be a kiss? Why are you assuming this girl wants sex because she kissed you??? ALLO PEOPLE MAKE NO SENSE.
