omg I'm so tired of Gilliam in this book. Everything he's doing is infuriating me.

“Wisdom,” she said, as he rose from his bow, “is not knowledge. It is experience. You will find, as you grow older, that you are capable of many wrongs which you consider evil now; you will also understand much about people that you dismiss. You may even understand the fear that comes with love, and the love that transcends fear.”
A worthy quote at last lol

You know the book does something right, when you're already committed to an 18(?) book series having read 6 chapters. Well, at least I won't have the burden of choosing the next read for a while lol

Started reading this on a whim. Wanted to read more female written epic fantasy - and not romantasy

This is a surprising, tense, creative and intelligently written book. Wow.

I almost wish I had started the Essalieyan series with this, in publication order, instead of a recommended reading order to start with the first three House War books (which are very dense and took me years to read.) I couldn't decide between reading this duology or moving on to the Sun Sword so I'm attempting to read them simultaneously. Like the seer Evayne, I am jumping around the timeline.
