This is good. I hadn’t thought about the parable of the prodigal son this way before. Whether we rebel by going our own way and defying Gods commands or by sticking close to God and trying to please Him so He’ll do what we want, it’s dangerous for our souls.

There are two ways to be your own Savior and Lord. One is by breaking all the moral laws and setting your own course, and one is by keeping all the moral laws and being very, very good.

Nunca había visto la parábola del hijo pródigo de esta manera. Una exégesis profunda y muy fresca de Lucas 15.

Amazing. I feel like I’m relearning what the Gospel is after years of being a Christian. God bless Tim Keller and his ministry.

‘The father is saying “I’m not going to wait until you’ve paid off your debt; I’m not going to wait until you’ve duly groveled. You are not going to earn your way back to the family, I am going to simply take you back. I will cover your nakedness, poverty and rags with the robes of my office and honor.”’

“Neither son loved the father for himself. They both were using the father for their own self-centered ends rather than loving, enjoying, and serving him for his own sake. This means you can rebel against God and be alienated from him either by breaking his rules or by keeping all of them deligently.” (37)

This book was really good. It explained the pride and self-righteousness that can come with viewing your relationship with God as a bunch of rules versus loving God Himself.

First book of my ~fall curriculum~ (that I assigned myself lol). This one wasn’t originally on my list, but my dad thought I would like it and mailed it to me! Excited to see what it’s all about. Not sure if it’ll be too religious for me or an interesting read so we’ll see! So far so good
