Paul commits himself to preaching nothing but Christ crucified. He no longer intends to argue as one does with philosophers but he continues to speak in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.
Paul goes on to describe the wisdom of the Spirit and tells of a secret of hidden wisdom of God which God decreed for our glory. The Greek word musterion for mystery as he describes the love of Christ crucified.

1 Corinthians 1:1-31
We are the Hagios of God. Meaning we are dedicated to God just as the temple was dedicated to YHWH by Israel. Before Paul corrects he reminds the Corinthians of Christ's great love and standard for his saints who are always in the presence of a gracious and loving God. The cross calls us to be knit together as brothers and sisters worshiping Christ and not our own glories or labors.
