It is depressing. Regardless of the main character being in a better situation...there is a constant reminder that it is only temporary. I was shocked by the note from Jenny. Glad to see Stephen integrating himself with the townspeople but it is nerve wracking that the kid thinks that life should consist on basically being a nomad.

New characters have been introduced so it is easier to become engrossed now that there is more "story" to learn. Should get more interesting and the vivid cheery description of the town as opposed to the description of the shambles of the rest of America provides a lot of hope for all of the characters in the story.

Wow what can I say? I am enjoying the book yet am still bothered this is mandatory reading for a 7th grader. I can't even read it at night because it bothers me so much. The slavers, slaves, a teenage who alleviates mental pain by turning it physically on himself. Really disturbing events.

I'm up to part that made me ill...character causin himself physical pain (making himself bleed) in order to alleviate mental torture.Isn't this somethin we refer to today as "cutting"?ok maybe he used his own fingernails 2 draw blood but 2 me it's the same thing. How is this okay readin 4 an impressionable teen girl? Readin a mindless book in between days readin this. Will be encouragin my girl 2 do the same....

Was curious about this book that is now required reading under Common Core. My 13 y/o daughter is being mandated to read it but yet at age 39 I am disturbed by the entire story premise. The descriptions of a post apocalyptic world are too terrifying to imagine & I am totally unnerved by the horrible scenarios depicted. This book is so far really depressing.

The father/son relationship, so far, is reminding me of Rick and Carl from The Walking Dead. It seem like Stephen is taking on the father roll more than his actual father at times.

This book is so anticlimactic. Just passed a moment that could have been so epic and full of action! But the author put the fight in the background and had our main character hide out in the forest, doing nothing. Why?? The romance doesn't make any sense to me and I don't care about the main character. *sighs*

They just decided to try and find out where to escape and they are fighting the grievers while they are trying to open the door and only a few people die.

The eleventh plague is about a boy named Steven and his dad living in a post-apocalyptic world and they try to survive in everyday life. I just read a part where Steven and his dad come across a group of men holding people captive and they want to try and save them.

The main theme in my book is friendship and it is shown a lot. There are multiple parts where they show this theme. I can recall reading a part in the last chapter where on of the characters tells the others that "this is what having friends feels like", and that really made me realize that the theme in this book is friendship.

It is taking me forever to get through this book. I will finish it...unless it kills me. I'm still waiting for the "point" of the story. And being more than halfway through, I still could care less about any of the characters.

The main character in my book has a very unique personality. It changes every chapter. In one chapter he'll be all happy and joyful, but in the next, he'll become angry and upset. At times, you may not even know what he's thinking because it is shown through action. Sometimes you need to read between the lines to figure out his emotions.

So for, the book hasn't really had any messages. It's setting up the story line for later. I'm not very far into the book either, which could also be why there haven't been any real messages.

Setting has been a really important pert of my book so far because the Earth has completely changed and the author has to explain it. I feel like the setting in my book would be used in one of those sad commercials, except for the fact that there is no electricity or power left on Earth in my book.

Stephen's dad is still unconscious at the base of the people that took him and his dad. Stephen stole so of their stuff and buried it in the woods for trade. My prediction is that he and his dad we leave and use the stuff to trade.
