So far it reminds me a bit of "The Difference Engine" - well-written, interesting and compelling world building, but a bit thin on the story...

Wow, Sterling did a great job predicting the future here -- he was just a quarter-century off. There's a Trump-like politician; America as a failed state (George Packer has an article in June's issue of The Atlantic called "We Are Living In A Failed State"!); doxxing; social media, surveillance...yikes.
