There’s something a little odd about the gender politics in this book, a weird sort of complacency/fatalism. Yeah this books is trying to be grounded in history, but also, King Arthur is not a real guy and neither is anyone else. And the pressure for the female characters to marry off, produce heirs, etc. is all there. But it’s hardly ever… perpetuated directly by the men??? Other than Arthur, maybe. Idk.
