Status Updates From The Way of Thorn and Thunde...

End of chapter 17 was a welcome moment for a smile in this doom bound developement. I'm literally biting my nails while reading.

I am going to try really hard to finish this today or tomorrow because I have way too many other books to read in June.

Whew, now it's getting heavy on melancholy. I'm having goosebumps while reading. This book has something I was missing from so many in the last time: a soul!

Finally making some progress.

What a book, what a power! This is already on its way to become one of my fav books.

At the end of cycle 2, the real journey has begun. This is classic epic fantasy and I LOVE IT! It’s the best fantasy I’ve read all year, hands down. I would absolutely recommend this to fans of LOTR.

Just finished the first cycle (part 1 of book 1). This is SO good! There is a lot of world building going on, getting to know different factions and watching a few of them meet up. There is political intrigue, a looming (magical?) threat from afar (possibly more than one?), and a timeless tale of a people trying to survive as those with different values attempt to take over. This is seriously good fantasy.

Reading more slowly now because I don’t want it to end.

Finally found a bit reading time. Still this will go slowly, all the more time to savour it.
I very much love the writing and the atmosphere and the world here. Feels much more "real" to me than most of the books I've read recently.

Yes! The first chapter is very promising!

So this book is really interesting, but I feel like I've been reading FOREVER and I'm still only at 8%. This is going to be a very long journey.

Hold on. So this is a book with Native American mythology, gay characters written by a gay writer, mentions "moon time," has powerful female warriors and ALSO has a non-binary character with "zhe" pronoun?

I am so in.

This is the second book in a row that I have read that not only mentions menstruating, but also refers to it as "moon time." This just confirms what we all know deep down. Women are werewolves. ;)

(But seriously, what are the odds that I would read these back to back?)

Why is there always someone who wants to open a portal to the underworld? And why do they think it will end well?

I think this is the first fantasy book I’ve read that acknowledges that females menstruate and has characters who pack adequate supplies for such things before embarking on their heroic journey.

Still good, but I find that the court intrigue part isn’t as absorbing as the adventure journey part.

This is so good!

Beautifully told story with a diverse, compelling cast of characters. Really enjoying this one so far.

So wyr is basically the Force?

Just got this through Interlibrary Loan and am diving right in. Gotta love a fantasy book with a 27 page glossary at the end.
