Status Updates From Blood Roots

This is making me want to rewatch Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson, so that's a plus. I had forgotten about that movie.

I may have to dnf this.

Supposedly there is erotic horror somewhere in here, which I'm excited about.

It's difficult for me to stay engaged with the haunted house setting. Though the emphasis on the family secrets (no ghosts, at least yet) is helpful

Partly because I've already seen tags for this book (incest) and this is giving me Dark Dance by Tanith Lee vibes (multi-generational family home with secrets) I'm already guessing who the man is who is 'very good at what he does.'

You know he's very good at what he does. He always has been. They hardly even feel it. They simply sleep.

She had no reason to jump.

She never realized what was happening to her.

She'd never regretted what she'd done to him.

And afterward. . .Mama had hidden him where no one would know.

*terror intensifies*

Omfg the vibes in this book are vibing harder than any vibes have ever vibed before

There’s a girl with no tongue and a murder swamp

I will not fall in love with Skyler. . .I will not fall in love with Skyler

“She wanted to hold the house to her. . .to clutch it against her heart. She wanted it to know her.”

Ok so it was great book, but a terrible romance. More horror focused and no hea.
