Я планувала не читати фантастики/фентезі бодай місяць. Але зі мною сталася ця книжка-цеглинка.
Не можу відірватися *кричить про порятунок зі зв'язаними на читалці руками*😅

I’m extremely impressed. I never saw myself enjoying a 2100 page book to the point that I didn’t want it to end, but here we are.

Не думала, що колись почну читати фанфіки, але це суперово. Гаррі Поттер, який хоче розорити весь чаклунський Лондон - це дуже смішно і цікаво

The first sixth of the book got me highly entertained and intrigued, but the following chapters not as much. Perhaps I got used to the lingo, perhaps I am not attentive or diligent enough to catch the lessons in rationality, analogously or between the lines. Currently the marginal value of reading other fiction or "pure" rationality texts seem higher than finishing this.

i couldve had added the three separate books on their own to count instead of reading them all crammed into one single book

I never imagined I would go through a 1,600 page book this quickly (quickly for me anyway) but here we are lol. Maybe this would be considered sacreligious by most Harry Potter fans but so far I like this book better than the originals.

Skewed percentage because I'm dividing the chapter I'm on by 122.

I cringe every time the term "Noble and Most Ancient House" was used. I mean it's like every friggin house is "Most Ancient" and being their Scion is supposed to mean something grand. But it just felt stupid and repetitive like WTF!
That's not the only thing horrible about this book. But that's the final straw that made me drop the book. I honestly regret slogging through the story for 1000 pages. Don't be like me.

Too long. Too much information not enough magic.

chap 29 - i find it really dull and boring and just way too full of endless paragraphs droning on about scientific and psychological theories. harry is also such an unlikeable and unrealistic character because of it

Well here I am reading Harry Potter fan fiction. And I'm enjoying it?
Not going to lie, the beginning is rough and had it not been so well reviewed by a friend (Brahm) I probably would have dropped it. Harry Potter is just... Too smart to be believable and I caught myself rolling my eyes more than once.
HOWEVER, I think I'm at a point where the author has found their groove and the story is flowing a bit better!

Okay. I'll try to pick up the pace now.
Am I liking:
It so far? - Yes, as a whole.
The science in it? - Yes, loving it!
The fact that this lacks the magical world-building? - Oh God, no! I get it's a fanfic and only someone who's familiar with the HP world will pick it up, but still! Something should've been said about the beautiful hall when they entered the first time!
Harry potter? - Nope. He's arrogant!!

My mind is blown. This book has me hooked more than the original Harry Potter titles.

"My son," Lucius Malfoy said after a time, "truly, you have done very well this day."
"Thank you, Father!"
"However, this is not a play, we are not Aurors, and we do not put our trust in trials."
Some of the light went out of Draco's eyes. "Oh."
"I, ah, do have a sentimental fondness for trials," Harry interjected. "And evidence."
🤣

Normal people don't choose on the basis of consequences, they just play roles.

When you do a fault analysis, there's no point in assigning fault to part of the system you can't change afterward. There's no point in trying to allocate responsibility to people who aren't going to alter their actions. Once you look at it from that perspective, you realize that allocating blame never helps anything unless you blame yourself, because you're the only one whose actions you can change.

Harry's voice was rising. "Do you think you're, you're just genetically better than everyone who lived back then? Like if you'd been transported back to fifteenth-century London as a baby, you'd realize all on your own that burning cats was wrong, witch-burning was wrong, slavery was wrong, that every sentient being ought to be in your circle of concern?"
