Goodreads Author Update

I recently had the honor of sharing Caitlin’s Star with a widows support group of more than 35 women, and it was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had as an author.

After reading the book aloud, we participated in a reflection activity where everyone wrote the name of someone they had lost on a note card, along with what their loved one’s “heavenly job” might be. They were free to keep th Read more of this blog post »

I listened to this book and truly enjoyed it. It kept me guessing right to the end. I believe that the author dug deeply into the history of our country in the early 1950s.

William W. Purkey
“A Student is the most important person ever in this school...in person, on the telephone, or by mail.
A Student is not dependent on us...we are dependent on the Student.
A Student is not an interruption of our work..the Studenti s the purpose of it. We are not doing a favor by serving the Student...the Student is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so.
A Student is a person who brings us his or her desire to learn. It is our job to handle each Student in a manner which is beneficial to the Student and ourselves.”
William W. Purkey, Becoming an Invitational Leader: A New Approach to Professional and Personal Success

Pat Conroy
“American men are allotted just as many tears as American women. But because we are forbidden to shed them, we die long before women do, with our hearts exploding or our blood pressure rising or our livers eaten away by alcohol because that lake of grief inside us has no outlet. We, men, die because our faces were not watered enough.”
Pat Conroy, Beach Music

نزار قباني
“In the summer
I stretch out on the shore
And think of you. Had I told the sea
What I felt for you,
It would have left its shores,
Its shells,
Its fish,
And followed me.”
Nizar Qabbani

Jennifer Worth
“The shell must be broken before the bird can fly.”
Jennifer Worth, The Midwife: A Memoir of Birth, Joy, and Hard Times
