"Mark Kemp is every bit as audacious as the musicians he writes about. The story he tells here encompasses everything that is important about modern life. And he tells it beautifully, the cultural criticism and memoir blended seamlessly."—Stephen J. Dubner, Turbulent Souls: A Catholic Son's Return To His Jewish Family

"As a child of the South ... I know in my heart that Mark Kemp has told the truth about what growing up here and loving music was like. But you don't have to be a Southerner to get it... fascinating, well-written, and entertaining..."—Larry Brown, Fay

"Kemp's grace and insight into a complex cultural scenario forms a combination that's hard to beat."—Kirkus Reviews

Video: A Word on Words, with John Seigenthaler

Hi folks,
I just uploaded a three-part video of my 2004 appearance on the Nashville public TV book show, "A Word on Words," with John Seigenthaler. It's a good discussion of "Dixie Lullaby" with one of those rare TV journalists who actually read the book from beginning to end and had his own anecdotes to add. Seigenthaler, for those who don't know, was a journalist and civil rights activist who was Read more of this blog post »

Jeannie Faulkner Barber Hey Mark, thanks for adding me as a friend. Your "Dixie Lullaby" sound very interesting! I'll have to check it out. If you have time, I'd love for you to visit my web site, jeanniebarber.com. I'm a novice writer so feel free to make any kind of suggestions, ideas or thoughts to correct it. I’m co-authoring a novel with Patty Wiseman, another friend on Goodreads. We’ve known each other for over 30 years. While you're there, please sign the guestbook, too! There’s also a link to our book you can click on…clairkelley@synthasite.com. This site is brand new and in the editing stage as is our story. Please visit it as well. We’re both very green, but we’ve met so many people on this site willing to reach out and offer advice or a guiding hand.
Blessings,
Jeannie
