But as their search for Autumn continued, it led them to a deadlier foe, thirsty for revenge against his clan and a secret that protected Autumn from a gruesome fate.

Intrigued by a Highlander is the second book of the Highland Revenge Trilogy by Donna Fletcher that takes us on a journey of finding love in unexpected places. Dru and Knox have different backgrounds. Dru, having experienced familial love but lost it when tragedy hit her life. Knox, on the other hand, steeled his heart to survive the life he was forced to live. Their unexpected union rediscovered lost and buried feelings within themselves, teaching them what love truly means.

I like Dru. Her form of defense against bigger and physically stronger opponents than her is refreshing from other heroines Donna has written. Dru knows her vulnerabilities and weaknesses but finds ways to get out of difficult situations. Her strength is her strong personality and kindness, making sure she helps those who really need it.

Knox's past didn't stop him from remaining a good person despite the hardships he faced as a boy. He is a fierce warrior but has a good moral character, so he didn't hesitate to agree to a marriage that he didn't want initially. The pair's dynamics complement each other, even though it shows in subtle ways. It makes them an unlikely pairing at first glance, but you can see how well they work together as the story unfolds.

The appearance of Lord Torrance is a nice change. Donna often mentions the next male or female MC of the next installment, but they are often just talked about and not an active participant. A glimpse of Torrance has me intrigued and looking forward to the next book.

But all in all, this story is heartwarming yet action packed that would have you looking forward with every turn of the page. ...more

What she didn't expect was a revelation that werewolves exist and that her host was actually one of them.

Lord Tiernan had spent centuries protecting the werewolves of his pack as their alpha. When he first met Olivia, he knew that he found his mate. With the snowstorm working in his favor, he was determined to win her over, courting her in a way she would understand. Courting her as a wolf.

The Sexual Appetites of Werewolves is the second book of Donna Fletcher's Sexual Appetites of Unearthly Creatures series. It has a similar premise as the first book but what made me intrigued with this one was its connection to the timeline of my favorite Highland couple, Cree and Dawn, despite being set in the present day.

The story was well written despite it being a novella. Donna built it up just right so there was a good mix of mystery, drama, lighthearted banter, and romance.

I like how Tiernan's life through the years was narrated. It gave readers a glimpse of what his life was like over the centuries of being the leader of Clan MacMadadh. I even like the small mention of Cree and Dawn while he was telling a bit about his life. It makes me wonder if Donna would consider writing about Tiernan's life in the past in more detail. I would love to get a glimpse of that if it's possible.

Olivia was a classic Donna heroine. Strong-willed, smart but has a kind soul. Even in the present day, she stands out as an expert in her field and would find every opportunity to be better.

Overall, this was a short, sweet, and enjoyable read. I’d love to see what happens next for Olivia and Tiernan. It also has me wondering about the other unearthly creatures Donna might have planned for us next. ...more

Traveling home from a weeklong event, Cree and Dawn are separated from Cree’s warriors by a thick fog that engulfs their party. With Dawn injured, Cree seeks refuge with the mysterious Clan MacMadadh, led by their leader, Lord Tiernan.

While Dawn recovers, the couple slowly unravels the secrets of their hosts and becomes entangled in a kidnapping attempt involving one of their clan members. After a nerve-wracking rescue and the plot behind the kidnapping is revealed, Dawn is finally well enough to travel once the fog clears. The couple reunites with Cree’s warriors and begins their journey home, forging a new alliance with Clan MacMadadh along the way.

Donna has incorporated a slight supernatural element, much like in the Highland Myths Series. She leaves subtle clues within the story that keep readers guessing right up until the very end.

Cree was a refreshing change in this book. In previous stories, he’s always been confident, one step ahead of everyone. This time, his uncertainty about their safety and the people around them shows a different side of him. He wasn’t sure what to do or how to move forward, and I love this aspect of his character. It shows what a great warrior and leader he is — someone who carefully assesses the situation, gathering all the necessary information before taking action.

Being injured for most part of the story, Dawn only had limited scenes. But the few moments she was there, showed how much her character progressed from the timid lass who stole the heart of the infamous Highland warrior, to an equal partner to Cree. She's quick-thinking, open-minded, logical, and determined but still retains her pure heart.

The introduction of Lord Tiernan was well-written. I like the added mystery to his character. At first, you're not sure about his motives. Is he a friend or foe? The revelation was a welcome relief in the end. And I cannot wait for the iteration of his character in the next book. All in all, a good read.
