T. E. Marts writes stories the way old boots carry gravel, quietly, heavily, and full of places no one talks about. He lives tucked somewhere in the pine-thick folds of North Carolina, where the mountains speak and the back roads remember who drives them.

A part-time electrician and full-time observer of bad choices, Marts fills his novels with broken people, and men trying to outrun what they’ve done. His voice is smoke-worn and rust-scraped, steeped in the kind of Southern gothic where the only thing thinner than hope is the coffee.
