The difficulty is that all of the worlds I visit in books are more fraught, subject to more conflict and far more dystopian than the one I already live in. I'd much rather disappear onto a small island off the coast of Norway with regular food drops, a kitchen garden and decent wifi than try to negotiate an new conflicted world.(less)

I would probably say, if pushed, that it was Pellaz and Calanthe from Storm Constantine's wonderful Wraeththu Trilogy. Two characters who essentially break and recreate a world in order to be together. Beautiful!(less)
