R.C. Otovic was born in Danvers, MA in September 1971.

He grew up in West Newbury, MA and graduated from Pentucket High School in 1989.

He majored in Business Management at CCSU in Connecticut in 1989/90, where he was a sports editor for the school newspaper, The Central Recorder, and did some freelance work for the Hartford Courant. He also hosted a sports radio show on WFCS in New Britain, CT.

R.C. majored in journalism, accepting a full scholarship at NECC in Haverhill, MA, from 1991 to 1994, holding the titles of sports editor and managing editor with the school newspaper, The NECC Observer.
