Born in Toledo, Ohio, Mr. Martin spent his childhood and adolescence in Texas, Puerto Rico, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

He played football for Antilles High School in Ft. Buchanan, Puerto Rico and for Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut.

He studied literature, history and economics at Amherst College and law at the University of Puerto Rico and New York University. He likes taking tests, especially bar exams.

Since 1990, he has practiced corporate law and business litigation. He is an avid observer of world business and politics.
