At the tender age of 9, one rainy afternoon in Berkshire, my mum sat me down to watch a new movie: the 2005 film adaptation of 'Pride and Prejudice'. Little did either of us realise then how significant Jane Austen was to become in my life. A few years later, my school English teacher encouraged me to read Austen's novels and immediately, I was caught up in the elegance and eloquence of her world and words, and since then, I have devoted myself to all aspects of the astonishing Jane Austen phenomenon. Aged sixteen, I began my blog, "Laughing with Lizzie", and to my great surprise, it quickly became popular, so I am now privileged to have thousands of followers across various social media platforms and to have made so many wonderful new frie ...more

“To my unsuspecting love.
When I look into your eyes, I lose all sense of time and place. Reason robbed, clear thought erased, I am lost in the paradise I find within your gaze.
I long to touch your blushing cheek, to whisper in your ear how I adore you, how I have lost my heart to you, how I cannot bear the thought of living without you.
To be so near to you without touching you is agony. Your blindness to my feelings is a daily torment, and I feel driven to the edge of madness by my love for you.
Where is your compassion when I need it most? Open your eyes , Love, and see what is right before you: that I am not merely a friend, but a man deeply, desperately , in love with you.
Longing for you.”

“Dear Philip,

I don't imagine you will ever read this. If you do, it is bacause something dreadful has happened to me. I find myself in the hands of a dangerous man. I am determined to fight him but before I do, my heart demands that I write this note to tell you that I love you. I am sending my heart to you in this letter so it will be kept safe from whatever may happen to me tonight. I don't know if you want it or not, but it has always been yours.

With all my love,
Marianne”

I will message you Marcy! :)

message 63: by Marcy

Marcy Soph, I hope this won't come oflike I'm being a nosy old biddy, but...I remember when you asked for recommendations for books other than Jane Austen, and you said she was really the only author you'd read. And now I notice you're mostly reading Austen fan fiction. I just want to suggest that you try expanding a little bit, and reading something different--contemporary writers maybe, about other times and places. After all, you're young, and Jane is your favorite because you haven't read much else. Not that I think you should ever stop loving her; that's perfectly wonderful. But just stretch those horizons a little, okay? And if you think I should mind my own business, feel free to say so! I do mean well.
