Do you like sensual erotica that is smartly written, engaging your mind as much as quickening your pulse?

Eight of mine have been published so far, and more are churning through the imagination and taking shape. I love learning and discussion with other writers and readers, and I relish feedback and constructive critique. I’d love to hear what you think?

Maybe pretend you have a lover to whom you are telling a story – a lover *new* enough to you that the mystery and excitement of passion lies ahead; but a lover *seasoned* enough with you to share mutual trust and respect.

Dwell on intricately describing each of the five sensory inputs you want to convey to your lover so he/she can fully appreciate what the characters in your story experienced. Tell your story in a way that lets the reader slip into the depths of your imagination with you, smelling the wealth of aromas, feeling the myriad textures, hearing the distinct richness of the sounds.

If you tell your story well, their mouth will physically salivate as their imagination feeds them the taste and texture of what’s swirling around your protagonist’s tongue. The reader will imagine their hands moving to reverently peel back the silky wisp of clothing to reveal the delicate but firmly beckoning morsel awaiting beneath. Their brain will willingly pretend to be soaking in the vision of the scene you are describing on the page for their reading pleasure, as if the scene was unfolding there in the room right before their eyes.

Your story does not have to be long. Start with a paragraph, a scene, a few sentences describing the essence of an idea you’ve had. Write short stories. Write pieces of what you know will be longer stories. Eventually, you will have a novel.

Most importantly, just write. If you enjoy the process of writing, there will be readers who relish the experience of reading your art. (less)

How much erotica is based on real experience vs fantasy?

Author Donovan Savard asked erotica writers how much of their erotica is based on real experience vs fantasy?

Depending on how and where you draw the line, for me it's probably 60/40. Most everything in my fantasies has a foundation in my past realities. And just like in real life where it's fun to push the boundaries and explore, writing allows those paths to branch off and continue to anywhere. Read more of this blog post »

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“I'm not sentimental--I'm as romantic as you are. The idea, you know,
is that the sentimental person thinks things will last--the romantic
person has a desperate confidence that they won't.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise

Marcel Proust
“The bonds that unite us to another human being are sanctified when he or she adopts the same point of view as ourselves in judging one of our imperfections.”
Marcel Proust, Within a Budding Grove

Charlotte Brontë
“No sight so sad as that of a naughty child," he began, "especially a naughty little girl. Do you know where the wicked go after death?"

"They go to hell," was my ready and orthodox answer.

"And what is hell? Can you tell me that?"

"A pit full of fire."

"And should you like to fall into that pit, and to be burning there for ever?"

"No, sir."

"What must you do to avoid it?"

I deliberated a moment: my answer, when it did come was objectionable: "I must keep in good health and not die.”
Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.
“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.”
Jorge Luis Borges

Mae West
“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
Mae West
