Physiologically, they're exactly the same; the only difference is the story you choose to have your brain tell about it. So choose excitement! And not only is confidence meaningless, but it's also harmful because it's ego-based and therefore unstable. Choose curiosity instead. Ask questions like "What can I learn from this situation?" Or "How can I get to know this person better?" Nobody can take your curiosity away from you, and regardless of what happens, you'll always get a result, taking success/failure out of the equation. With the combination of excitement and curiosity, you can then start having fun with the whole process, which is *the* key to getting better at this stuff.

“Remember that in life, everything that you want is outside of your comfort zone. Because if something is inside your comfort zone, it's either something you already have or something so trivial as to be undesirable: you don't want something you already have. So in order to get what you want but don't yet have, you have no choice but to venture outside of your comfort zone.”

“When you chase anything in life, you are affirming its lack in your life.”

“The way to allow the Goddess to emerge is simple: act as if you already are her.”

“Chinese dialectical reasoning had an impact on the physicist Niels Bohr, who was highly knowledgeable about Eastern thought. He attributed his development of quantum theory in part to the metaphysics of the East. There had been a centuries-long debate in the West about whether light consists of particles or waves. Belief in one was assumed to contradict and render impossible belief in the other. Bohr’s solution was to say that light can be thought of in both ways. In quantum theory, light can be viewed either as a particle or as a wave. Just never both at the same time.”
Richard E. Nisbett, Mindware: Tools for Smart Thinking

“A leader is best
When people barely know he exists
Of a good leader, who talks little,
When his work is done, his aim fulfilled,
They will say, “We did this ourselves.”
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
