But this book came in to save us, it teaches us about the characters before the movie took place and the prelude for that. So if you are looking for an informational book to learn more of characters backgrounds then this is the book for you, but on the other hand if your'e looking for an action adventure this is definitely not the one for you and most likely a giant waste of time.

Now this book has three sections Finn, Rey, and Poe. So lets start with Finn. We started learning about Finn while he is becoming a stormtrooper, which is exciting because throughout Star Wars we haven't been able to learn about them much. Now Finn was one of the top performing stormtroopers on his way to the top easily. To me it seemed as if they were trying there best to brainwash him into what they wanted, but as one of the top performers he is also one of the smartest and he knew better than what they were telling him and that he was destined for better. My favorite part of this section of the book was when Finn went through training with his squad, it is probably the most action packed part of the book. Now in this part they are doing live training so it seems real, Finn ended up going back for one of the members and ended up getting in trouble for doing whats right. Now he didn't stay a trooper for long as we all know he eventually turns on them.

Rey, now to be honest Rey probably had the most informative section of the book but also the most boring, which is very hard for me to say because I love Rey with all my heart. Her section told us of how her parents left her on Jakku, and essentially she was all on her own from a young age, as we know she was a scavenger looking for parts to sell and survive everyday of her life, she really didn't want to leave the planet because almost everyday she thought her parents were going to comeback and she strongly believed this. Besides that we don't really learn much about Rey that we didn't already know. I really wish they gave us more to learn about her but they just didn't.

Poe, now Poe was a very confident young man at the start, his parents were both pretty high up in the ranks for the Rebel Alliance and Poe was always looking up to them and following in their footsteps. Poes infamous X-wing was from his mother, now I don't know if it was gifted to him or handed down it never really clarified. Poe was a member of the Rebels and could probably be whatever rank he wanted that's how good he is. But he is a very independent man and was always upset at the Rebels because deep down he knows they could try harder, I guess that's just his aggressive nature coming out.

So overall this book is great for learning more about our new favorite characters but personally it does get boring and I really don't think it's a must read for most readers. ...more "
