In this romance and young fiction, “The Love Letters of Abelard and Lily” by Laura Creedle, I felt so much as I read through it. It is really crazy how much emotion and feelings run down you when you read something, especially something so intense and interesting that you just want to finish in one day.

The main characters in this story are Lily and Abelard, Lily has ADHD as well as having dyslexia she does a lot of things out of being impulsive when she does not take her medicine for her ADHD. Her parents are divorced and her dad moved to a cooperative farm. Her dad taught her how to read and showed her most of the books she loves. Second Abelard, he has aspergers syndrome. They know each other from elementary when lily hit him with her lunchbox in his face. Lily is a really interesting character and sometimes she reminds me of myself in certain things she does. She is supposed to relate to the author with having ADHD. Abelard is the quiet and non sociable person which is all we get from Abelard besides that when he is around Lily he becomes someone else, in a good and sweet way since he struggles to be social.

It was never a coincidence that Lily and Abelard were both sent to the principal's office for doing something they had no idea they done together. Lily always goes on and on when she gets anxious, the more she does not take her medicine the moor jittery she starts to feel. Lily mentioned their elementary incident about her hitting his face. They caught themselves eye to eye and her impulsiveness made her reach in for a kiss. The following days after their kids, all lily could think of is the kiss. Once they showed up to detention she looked for him, after a while a lot happened. Lily had taken the “embarrassment” moment for a boy who had drawn a portrait of Abelard. Lily went straight home and pinned it up. Once again, lily all could think of Abelard nonstop whether she wanted to or not. A day or two passed and she realized her picture was gone and could not think of what had happened to it. When lily went online, she noticed the picture was online with Abelard's portrait filled with different types of messages. This whole situation is what kick started abelard and Lily’s whole relationship. There was a mysterious comment left with a quote from the book, “ The love letters of abelard and heloise” and she knew it was him but was scared she could have been wrong. Her sister iris, convinced her to send the message and text abelard and that was the moment where it really happened. They texted back and forth with quotes and little passages from books and poems they both enjoyed. Lily always felt like she was broke, not perfect in anyone's eyes. Abelard helps Lily6 see that even though she does not feel perfect, she is to him and it should not matter to anyone. Lily believes the only happiness she can receive is from Abelard and just him. Abelard gets a waiting admission for a program in New Mexico while lily insists on getting brain surgery, experimental brain surgery. As if she thinks she needs to do something to be able to be “normal.”

I really enjoyed this book although it had a lot of repetitive moments, it made me smile all the time from how many times it was a really cute and adorable story. The way everything happened and how the author put in real life learning disabilities made the story hit a bit harder and nicer. Even if it felt like a lot of repetitiveness I still really enjoyed the book since it had been a while that I have had a chance to read anything I was really happy to have chosen this one. It did not seem like a basic movie romance story but the fact that it invoiced some disabilities I felt made it so much better. For anyone who loves a little romance stories I really believe this would be it. ...more "
