Alexis Kienlen is a poet, fiction writer, journalist and editor whose work has appeared in numerous publications across Canada. From 2001-2006, she was the literary editor of Ricepaper magazine, a magazine of Asian Canadian arts and culture.

Her first book of poetry "She dreams in Red" was published in 2007. Her second book of poetry "13" was published in Fall 2011.
Her third book, a biography called "Truth, love, non-violence: the story of Gurcharan Singh Bhatia" came out in 2014.

Alexis has taught writing to teens, and wrote a column on books for The Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribune from 2007-2018. She currently works as a reporter for "Alberta Farmer" newspaper.

Her first novel "Mad Cow", was published in 2020.

Marlene I hope you read the Identity interview. It's long and you have to read well into it. Dubus talks a lot about being a writer and "teaching" of writing, as well as use of workshops. I think you have a common language. And after reading the New Yorker interview I will be interested in knowing if you have different views of Sand and Fog.


Doreen I am now really looking forward to The Last Woman and the Dan Chaon books.
