Pàdruig MacIlleChiar (Peter Kerr) lives and works in Harris where his ancestors lived and worked a quarter of a millennium ago.

He is a member of the Uist Writer's Group at Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Arts Centre in Lochmaddy, North Uist, where he coordinated and presented the monthly live music event, Taigh Ciùil.

In addition to his creative writing he is also an experienced researcher specialising in the social and economic history of the Western Isles of Scotland. His first book, published simultaneously in the Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) translation and in a printed edition in the original English, has had approaching one thousand downloads.
