We rely more heavily now—for good or ill—on electronic images that can elicit emotional responses, often without requiring reflective thought.
Check out the research on how images affect our brain without our conscious awareness; even scarier, all the major plug-play websites and blogging platforms require an image because it increases engagement. I don't want to be a part of that system but I don't have an easy way to opt out of it - I had to hire a web company to make a custom site.
