David Tocher (pronounced “Talker”) is an author, editor, and essayist from the Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada. Known for his macabre storytelling, he has earned international acclaim for his imaginative fiction and thought-provoking themes. His works include the short story collection Letters from a Dead World, featuring an introduction by Nancy Kilpatrick, and the 2019 anthology Canadian Dreadful, praised by First Blood author David Morrell as a “harrowing tour of the northern landscape that will leave you both dazzled and terrified.” Tocher is also a producer of several films, including the 2024 remake of Spider Baby. When not writing or exploring literary classics, he enjoys the unique charm of B-movie horror films.

SPIDER SEEDS

I’m excited to share that my new novella, Spider Seeds, is now available!

Set in beautiful Victoria, BC, this story follows a writer who brings home an exotic plant—only to discover it conceals something terrifying: a spider ravenous for human prey.

If you’re in the mood for suspense, a bit of terror, and an exploration of hidden dangers, I hope you’ll check it out!

Available here: Spider Seeds

Moonlight Desires by David Tocher
"Well, I couldn't make heads or tails of this thing at first. This was after I got a note in the mail asking me to read it and I was happy to. I can't write a review for Amazon as I never buy anything there. So I'm glad this book is listed on Goodread" Read more of this review »
Moonlight Desires by David Tocher
"Moonlight Desires is a gothic, meta-fictional reimagining that weaves the classic "Ashputtel" together with Ovid’s myth of Arachne. Here, the Fairy Godmother is a cursed, monstrous princess who grounds the magic in the "Ingridelite Weave", a hypnotic" Read more of this review »
