At the very least, with my fiction works I will take a break from the actual story and write up a history about one of the characters. Just free-write their biography. I get to know my characters better and can give them a bit more depth when I get back to the story.(less)

And hopefully I can help transport them away from their worries and stress for at least a little while... that was what books were to me growing up, and I can only hope to be able to do the same for others.(less)
