40 Before 40!

Picture I turn 39 today, and this year I decided I definitely want to do some kind of "40 before 40" goal to commemorate the upcoming milestone. It seems like a good season to take stock of the past and prepare for the future!

I don't have a long bucket list, and nothing jumped out at me as the "perfect" 40 before 40 goal, so I decided to crowdsource ideas. You all came up with some wonderful ones! I thou Read more of this blog post »

More of Anjanette's books…
Fyodor Dostoevsky
“I believe like a child that suffering will be healed and made up for, that all the humiliating absurdity of human contradictions will vanish like a pitiful mirage, like the despicable fabrication of the impotent and infinitely small Euclidean mind of man, that in the world's finale, at the moment of eternal harmony, something so precious will come to pass that it will suffice for all hearts, for the comforting of all resentments, for the atonement of all the crimes of humanity, for all the blood that they've shed; that it will make it not only possible to forgive but to justify all that has happened.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Dietrich Bonhoeffer
“In normal life we hardly realize how much more we receive than we give, and life cannot be rich without such gratitude. It is so easy to overestimate the importance of our own achievements compared with what we owe to the help of others.”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison

J.R.R. Tolkien
“Never laugh at live dragons.”
J.R.R. Tolkien

Charlotte M. Mason
“The question is not, -- how much does the youth know? when he has finished his education -- but how much does he care? and about how many orders of things does he care? In fact, how large is the room in which he finds his feet set? and, therefore, how full is the life he has before him?”
Charlotte Mason, School Education: Developing A Curriculum

Charlotte M. Mason
“Self-education is the only possible education; the rest is mere veneer laid on the surface of a child's nature.”
Charlotte Mason
