Sorry for the delay in replying, I've only just noticed your question. As far as I know, Lion Hudson haven't gone under, but they do seem to be cutting back on their adult fiction line, and have indicated to me that they are not interested in publishing any more of my 'Local' series of novels. Which is of course a bit of a disappointment, especially as I have number 4 completed and ready to go! I am looking around for another publisher or agent, but nothing yet, and there are a number of family matters that have had to take precedence, so it may be a while before I can get back to this.(less)

Arc of Life: A literary Experiment

A little while ago I read an article about different genres. In it, a famous author (I think it was George R. R. Martin, but I haven’t been able to find the article to be sure) said that all stories were basically the same: different genre’s merely changed ‘the furniture’ around. So a story with blasters and starships would be SF, but the same basic plot written with six-guns and stage coaches wou Read more of this blog post »

Tom Toner
Tom Toner added a status update: Hey Goodreads, in case any fans of my Amaranthine Spectrum series didn't know, I have a new book out (under my interdimensional pen name Caspar Geon) called the Immeasurable Heaven. The book's had some nice reviews so far, and it was a hell of a lot of fun to write. Will update a bit more regularly (more than once every ten years), hopefully with some more news on even newer books very soon.

I know Tad Williams work best from some of his series, such as 'The Dragon Bone Chair' and 'Otherland', which I read some time ago but have good memories of. Long, but never slow. It has been a while since I read them, though, so when I came across t ...more

"Brilliant! I lived this book!
It’s an epic page-turner set in a fantasy world that drew me in from the start. Tribal and landscape detail accumulated as a natural part of the narrative and the tension never let up. High life-or-death stakes kept me on" Read more of this review »

C.S. Lewis
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“I am a Christian and of course what I write will be from that essential viewpoint.”
