I was born in Pennsylvania, but have also lived in Massachusetts, Ohio, South Carolina and North Carolina. I graduated from Francis Marion University with a Bachelor's Degree in French, with a minor in Writing and Language. I have used my writing skills more since I graduated than I have my French skills however - I started doing some freelance writing in 2005, and in 2014 I wrote my first eBook, "Your Work at Home Journey: Three Paths You Can Take and What You Need to Know Before You Go," Since then I've also published a second eBook, and in 2016 I will be re-releasing that eBook, as well as writing a few others. ...more

Trying to Find Your Writing Voice? Read “Writing is My Drink” by Theo Pauline Nestor

I finished reading “Writing is my Drink: A Writer’s Story About Finding Her Voice (and How You Can Too) by Theo Pauline Nestor a few months ago, and I found it to be very interesting and educational. In this review I’ll provide more information on the book and the kind of information Theo provides in it.

The first thing that intrigued me about the book was the title “Writing is My Drink.” I imagine

“history has become
a beautiful American lie
Overseers rewrite it
and always deny

people the right
to know the ugly truth
only tell part of it
especially to the youth

peace peace peace
they always insist
while lawmakers attempt to
cease and desist

the full story
from impressionable minds
there's no better way
to keep everyone in line

from the Civil War
to civil rights
they'll never stop downplaying
the brutality of our fights

so now you know
some of the things they keep from you
I can only hope
you'll spread the knowledge, too

because there's one way
to set everyone free
it starts with making a difference
it starts with you and me”
