Sometimes a character just starts talking in my head and I write to figure out who they are and what they have to say. Sometimes, like with "The Earth Hypothesis" stories I was inspired by a news article. It was a National Geographic piece about gorillas disarming poacher traps. It was an amazing thing to hear about and I started thinking of what a space alien would think if she saw that.(less)
