Nicole M. Hewitt is a middle grade author living in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, three grown kids, and two overly-enthusiastic pups. She first flexed her creative muscles as a theatre major at the University of Illinois and later taught theatre, writing, and ELA at a large homeschool co-op. More recently, she worked as the Kids’ Specialist at her local Barnes & Noble. Nicole’s debut middle grade fantasy novel-in-verse, THE SONG OF ORPHAN’S GARDEN was chosen as a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection.

This book is a blend of genres that keeps readers guessing - is it a dystopian? A contemporary? Sci-fi? Or maybe it's a bit of everything. Middle grade readers will be enthralled by the central mystery of what's happened in the world that keeps the c ...more

“She thought of ... the way he never made made her feel crazy, even when she was acting crazy, and never made her feel like a failure, even when she was failing.”

Rainbow Rowell
“You don't know when you're twenty-three.
You don't know what it really means to crawl into someone else's life and stay there. You can't see all the ways you're going to get tangled, how you're going to bond skin to skin. How the idea of separating will feel in five years, in ten - in fifteen. When Georgie thought about divorce now, she imagined lying side by side with Neal on two operating tables while a team of doctors tried to unthread their vascular systems.
She didn't know at twenty-three.”

“Which is worse, Risa often wondered, to have tens of thousands of babies that no one wanted or to silently make then go away before they were even born”

Happy to "meet" you!!

C. (Comment, never msg). My pleasure to start knowing you, Nicole! I am Carolyn in Manitoba. Illinois isn't so far away. If you love sharing reviews, I think you would enjoy my blog's four reading themes. I scarcely call them "challenges" because they are highly relaxed, with the option for conversation and play as much as we wish. Their year starts tomorrow, February 1. :) https://cmriedel.wordpress.com/headqu...

Ha! I'm so glad to hear that! My kids aren't old enough to be reading most of the books I read yet, but I always think that when they are, I would appreciate someone telling me about the content. That's why I've always included it in my reviews. Glad to hear that it's actually helped someone! Too bad I haven't read They All Fall Down! LOL!

☆Joycedale☆ I didn't realize how much I relied on Feed Your Fiction Addiction reviews until I won a copy of They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire My daughter asked to read and my husband asked if its a book I need to read first. I said let me see if Nicole's read it, she always says if there's sex shown lol.
