Adele Archer was born in Bethnal Green, East London in the 1970s, the second youngest of six children. Growing up in a council flat in not the most salubrious part of town, she was always a dreamer - and her imagination was the best escape of all. Adele was writing books from the age of eleven - but inventing stories in her head long before that.
Adele spent the majority of her working life as a trained nurse but it was in 2011, after the death of her beloved sister, that she decided it was time that writing novels could no longer just be a secret hobby. Because, in her bitter experience, life was too short for 'if onlys'.

Th…moreWell, I'm going to try to avoid the obvious (Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy, although I love them). So I'm going to say Jane Eyre and Mr Rochester. There's a whimsical humour within their relationship, as well as intensity. These old novels have it all sewn up as far as chemistry goes - sadly lacking in modern literature. But can I choose a movie couple too? Sally Albright and Harry Burns. Best movie couple ever. End of.(less)

The fateful steps…

I meant to write about this months ago – it was to be my triumphant return to blogging. But at the time I felt too miserable and sorry for myself. Oh, and I couldn’t type – that kind of had a bearing as well. In July 2025, while nonchalantly ambling to work on a standard Thursday morning, I fell down some late 17th Century steps in our town, maybe fifty metres from my office.
