I just spent part of last work working on poetry in part to take a break from the novel I'm currently working on.

I also like to read good books to remind me of how much a book can accomplish. These can be inspiring new books (like Caught by Lisa Moore, Sweetland by Michael Crummey, and All My Puny Sorrows by Miriam Toews), or books that have been in important to me in my life but which I may not have read in a decade or more (Austen, Woolf, Mann, Joyce).(less)

Entrants to giveaways

We have a few hours until the giveaway is over, but I wanted to thank in advance all those who entered. When I set up the dates, which were meant to be in proximity to All Souls' Day (Nov 2), I didn't realize the date was coinciding with the American election. I will be glued to my tv through the evening, but look forward to putting the winners' copies in the mail.

I was really moved by the intere Read more of this blog post »
