3.5 I think this feels very similar to her other work. Love it, but didn’t feel like anything I haven’t already read before. |

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."

“I like to think that nothing's final, and that everyone gets to be together even when it looks like they don't, that it all works out even when all the evidence seems to say something else, that you and I are always young in the woods, and that I'll see you sometime again, even if it's not with any kind of eyes I know of or understand. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the way things go after all - that all things end happy.”

“I'm not myself," she offered, guiltily. She softened around Tik Tok, and when she did she was, for those rare moments, girlish.
He smiled. "You can never say that. You're just a piece of yourself right now that you don't like.”

Can I just say ... I read my own old reviews from high school and I was such a brutal, insecure critic that got offended when I couldn't relate personally?? Sheesh. The Ego was LOUD. I also was such a hater on romance! Oh, how times change. Apologies to anyone for seeing my old reviews ... I'm hopefully much less annoying now <3

Yay! I'm so excited you added The Snow Child. I do hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do, but no pressure. We're allowed to have our own opinions, of course.
Agreed! I'm very much looking forward to having another friend to discuss books with!
