Undine Zimmer, geboren 1979, studierte in ihrer Heimatstadt Berlin Skandinavistik, Neuere Deutsche Literatur und Publizistik in Berlin. Für ihre Reportage „Meine Hartz-IV Familie“, erschienen im Zeitmagazin, war sie 2012 in der Kategorie Essay für den Henri-Nannen-Preis nominiert. 2013 erschien ihr erstes Buch im S. Fischer Verlag „Nicht von schlechten Eltern. Meine Hartz-IV Familie.“ Der Veröffentlichung folgte eine umfangreiche Resonanz in Presse, Hörfunk und Fernsehen sowie Einladungen bundesweit und nach Österreich und England. Sie war 2013 Kolumnistin der Sonntaz für die vierwöchige Rubrik „Was der Kühlschrank hergibt“. Sie arbeitet zur Zeit hauptberuflich als Arbeitsvermittlerin.

Two minutes ago I thought I had a good idea, suddenly it seems stupid and irrelevant. Then I feel that everybody else would be able to do it better than I ever could. I am caged in my own shell. I can´t even start. I judge myself before I can write down a single letter. Every word I write feels banal and stiff.
So what I do is this: I watch a movie or series about a creative and productive person I admire until I adapt the mood and I can write again. The writer's block loosens the moment I stop comparing myself and my work with others. When I forget the outside world and just allow myself to like what I am doing. When I forget about trying to achieve something important, qualitative and final. (less)
