Eve Baumohl Neuhaus was born in Philadelphia in 1950, the much-loved only child of older parents who fled from Vienna when Hitler invaded in 1938.

Resettled by the Quaker community, Eve’s mother went back to school to become a social worker, filling her daughter’s early years with tales of children displaced by the war finding homes in America. A shy and imaginative child who never quite fit in with her all-American neighbors, Eve came of age in the sixties, loved the Beatles with all her heart, and easily found her place in the hippie world. Her passion for stories led her to major in English at Temple University, and then to spend a few years exploring both the inner and outer worlds.

In time, she married and moved to the country to raise children and goats. It was during this period that she was fortunate enough to have a classic experience of the guru coming to her door. Ganesh Baba came after she’d given up the search for a teacher; and the experience brought pain and growth in equal measure.

Work on The Crazy Wisdom of Ganesh Baba began in 1980, when Ganesh Baba gave Eve a copy of his own manuscript, Sadhana, to edit, update and publish. Fortunately, Baba also provided the publisher, and it is due to Ehud Sperling's exemplary patience and persistence that the book will be published almost 30 years to the day from the time he and Eve gave Baba their promise to complete the work.

At Baba's suggestion, Eve also went back to school for a teaching certificate, and spent the next two decades in the classroom. In 2003, she finished a master's in Mythological Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. Her first book, Journey to Mythaca, a story about stories for children of all ages, was published in 2006.

Eve worked on The Crazy Wisdom of Ganesh Baba very intensively for three years, often spending three hours a day practicing the system of kriya yoga taught in the book and the rest writing.
