Anyone who tells you writing a book is easy is wrong. It's a journey, sometimes a difficult one, but you have to love it to do it. It's also a responsibility. The longer you spend on a book, the more invested in the characters you become. You have to take care of them while servicing the story.

Finally, I like the power that comes with writing. I've always been a writer, ever since I was a small child. But it's taken my whole life to acquire the skills and life experience needed to finally create stories for publishing. The power over my work, the control needed is daunting and exhilarating at the same time.(less)

I've really enjoyed researching the tropes a…moreI am working on the next book in the DON series, Rowen's Bite. It's a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood.

I've really enjoyed researching the tropes associated with both the story and the Big Bad Wolf character. The hardest part has been crafting a plot that does the characters justice while staying true to their folktale roots.

Another challenge will be pushing to keep the characters unique and memorable without becoming unlikable, silly, or stupid. (less)
