Born and raised in Virginia, Kathryn Ascher tried her hand at poetry and fiction in high school, but put it all aside when she went to college. After graduating from Virginia Tech with her degree in communications, she married her college sweetheart and went to work for a local radio station.

After the birth of her third child, Kathryn decided to give writing another try. When she picked up her first romance novel, she immediately knew that was the genre for her. She was drawn to the strong lead characters and the quirky secondary characters, the settings, the humor, and most importantly the feelings of falling in love for the first time. She hopes that her readers enjoy these aspects in her writings as well.

Before I start, I have the general idea of the story, but always find as I write I want to include something that I'm not entirely sure of. The research happens at that point so that I can have the details as close to realistic as I can possibly get them.

For WHAT IT TAKES, that research was mostly focused on the movie industry. For ON THE LINE, the research came more in the form of asking experts regarding therapy treatments and the ins and outs of the legal process. I also did online research on PTSD and how it affects children. For the third book I've done research on the rock and roll industry and the legalities/wording of contracts, as well as a few other little things that come up as I go along.

Thank you for asking such a great question, Sharon!(less)

I was one of those girls who had more guy friends than girl friends, and Grayson is an embodiment of some of those guy friends. They were always fun to hang out with, carefree and rarely took things seriously. But at the same time, they could give great advice and were level-headed when I needed them to be. Grayson was so much fun to write because I could channel my inner teenager. He was a perfect counterpart to Kelsey's serious side and I think he helped to bring her true personality to the forefront.
