Brian Joel Jolley grew up in a loving, religious household in Salt Lake City, Utah, and practiced his childhood faith until 2008. Subsequently, he adopted a rigidly secular world view which gave little space for the meaning of our subjective experiences. His passion for astronomy led him to appreciate the precious nature of life on Earth in a vast and nearly uninhabitable universe.

Over time he started to recognize the interconnected nature of reality experienced simultaneously by all living things and realized that the Biblical creation story had more in common with evolution than he'd ever considered as a believer.
