I grew up Midland Texas, which is also the city of my birth. I am the youngest of four boys that were born to Curtis and Ruby Brown. After me, in 1969,
My Mother gave birth to her last child and only daughter, Katrina; and then she died of cancer 6 years later. My memories of her are fragmented and incomplete. When I think of her these days, it is always with sadness. I don’t know why. And I won’t dwell too long upon it in this writing.

My Father raised us alone through the 70’s and 80’s and if I said, it was hard, I would be telling either half a lie or half of the truth. So I’ll say it was more than hard, Curtis never seemed to catch the breaks that life sometimes tosses those it sees in need. Those days too, are remembered with a bit of

A Wise Man of War

Once I made weapons carved from stone, I tied the weight to a wooden handle, a club to break the bones of my enemy.

Then I became wiser...
and sharpened the stone to a point and then fastened it to a stick; my arrow. I bent wood and hitched string to it; my bow. I kill my enemy with skill

Then I became wiser...
and made weapons forged from steel and took care to sharpen the blade of my sword. I kill m Read more of this blog post »

“A friend is someone that asks, 'how are you,' and really wants to hear the truth.”
Tonny K. Brown

“The greatest thing you will ever give to the world is your committment to leave what you find in better condition than the way you found it. Leave a single light in a place where there was once darkness so those coming behind you may see further and begin where you left.”
Tonny K. Brown

“A heart assured of its purpose will have the honor to admit when it is wrong, the courage to examine the reason for its faith and the strength to recover from the pain of any wrong it has done. And it will possess the greatest power known to both God and man; the power to forgive “AND” most certainly forget. A heart such as this shall always have the voice to answer life.”
Tonny K. Brown

“Love is always opposed by hate, truth is always opposed by the lie, and hope is always met with despair. Yet, we, who will dare hold fast to those things dearest in our hearts, must sojourn, from time to time, into unknown darkness to spread light. For though we live in perilous times, we shall not yield to them.”
Tonny K. Brown

“I am a firm believer in the ‘Power of Persuasion.’
Insomuch as, whatever you believe are your limitations, will become your limitation.”
Tonny K. Brown

“Those who believe in justice find silence too great a burden to carry.”
Tonny K. Brown

“Love is always reminding me that there is something else left to do”

Tonny K Brown The Adventures of Jack and Sidney The Gold Coin by Tonny K. Brown

A review by my good friend Rassilon:

If you have been keeping up with the post on NBC's Treasure Hunters Boards, you will know that Tonny Brown, of Team Brown, has been coming into his own with several projects on both the front and back burners. These include a comic based on the exploits of "Wild Hanlon" family, a Comic book call "Jurassic Knights" and a up coming book, a children's story, entitled, "The Gold Coin" The adventures of Jack and Sidney.

After much arm twisting on my part, Tonny E-mailed me a copy of his story for my review and after a week of nail biting on Tonny's part, I am prepared to share with you my thoughts on his children's story.

Simply as I can, in three words… "I Liked it, Tonny!" You have done your family proud.

The tale of "The Gold Coin" is a tale of the south, in the reminiscent vain of Joe Chandler Harris's tales of "Br'er Rabbit" with a touch of A. A. Milne's "Winnie the Pooh"

Tonny Brown has created "The Wood" a small forest adjoining the property of Old Farmer Johnson and his daughter "Princess" He has peopled the wood with animals that mirror all their Human counterparts. They can be just as wise, or just as petty and vain as humans we know in our own lives, without losing their childlike charm.

Without revealing too much, The Gold coin is a simple tale. A tale of how animals view their lives and their place within this world, all in a very set way. This view point is the basis of the Created harmony within the Wood.

But, this harmony is disrupted, with the discovery of a single Gold coin in the wood and the ensuing fight over its possession threatens to shake the foundation of this peaceful community, if a solution can not be found as to who truly owns this coin.

Tonny Brown's story is for children and is designed to show us that the true worth in our lives is not the gold found at our feet, but the gold found in the heart of your friends.

If I have one regret, it is that this story is too short. For like Br'er Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh, the adventures of Jack and Sidney should have been only one of a compilation of stories about "The Wood" rather than a single short story. It left me only wanting more.

Tonny, I can only wish you well with the success of your story. I can not wait to see how you may have illustrated this.

With Best Wishes and Best Regards,

Rassilon

It is the Thrill of the HUNT that excites us...not the TREASURE...--------------------
