I am a problem solver. When faced with a PhD-level problem, I never begin by looking at what others have done before me. The reason is simple: I do not want to internalize the assumptions, frameworks, or conventional thinking that may have prevented others from solving the problem. I prefer to approach it with a fresh perspective and develop my own solution first. Once I have resolved it, I then study the work of others to understand their approaches, identify any limitations in their thinking, and learn how my own solution can be improved.
