Jonathan Hempstead writes cozy picture books and early readers for kids who feel things deeply and for the grown-ups who want to help them make sense of it all.

His stories celebrate the small and the shy, the silly and the searching. You will find pocket-sized heroes, gentle humor, and big feelings handled with warmth. Whether it is a brave little penguin, a chicken having an identity crisis, or a cloud that will not stop following a girl around, Jonathan’s books aim to leave children feeling understood and a little more confident than when they began.

Jonathan lives in Connecticut with his family. When he is not writing, he is usually collecting story ideas from everyday moments and turning them into read-aloud adventures.
