One day someone starts to realise he’s a bit more different compared to others around him. He decides to go to a place almost untouched by the government and finds someone there who hasn’t known what the world is like with the government controlling everything. This new character is the one who tries to change the way of thinking for the individuals affected by the government's choices of control but ends up being for naught and he gets sent away for thinking differently than everyone else. This book shows Individuality vs. Conformity by showing the differences from the man outside the government and the man who grew up in it. The man outside the government had his own feelings and choices the government couldn’t control and he was trying to impart these ideals on others. This also leads to the friendship between him and the man born into the government because he taught the man not in government about the world of which he lived himself and vise versa. One part of the book in chapter 16 influenced my opinion of the book because it was the man outside of government actually confronting the highest man in authority of the government and they both talked about instability and stability. When Aldous Huxley wrote Brave New Word he used very academic language when writing along with scientific terms such as “hypnopaedia” or “bokanovskified” to show how much more advanced the world in the book is compared to ours. The people I would recommend this book to would be people that want to go and stand up against the government because that happens in the book where the main character goes against the government’s main ideas by going straight up to the person in charge and questions the reasons behind why the way society works. He questions these ideals by asking, “But why is it prohibited?” He asked this in response to the authority figure saying that books of old were prohibited because he doesn’t want his own people to be prohibited by old things so that the new things can be more easily controlled by the government....more
