Iseult Murphy started writing at a young age, entertaining her family with magazines that she wrote and illustrated as a child. In her teens, she won several local and national short story competitions, including three time overall winner of the RDS Young Science Writers competition, and had work placed in international writing competitions such as the BBC Wildlife Poetry competition.
Iseult is drawn to horror, fantasy and science fiction, as she feels that the most difficult aspects of life can be best explored through the lens of speculative fiction.
She currently resides on the east coast of Ireland with four dogs, a couple of humans and a cat. When she isn’t writing, she enjoys reading, art and spending time with her animals.

Iseult’s Recent Updates

The Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe
"One can only aspire to be a half as good writer as Gene Wolfe... Astounding in every aspect, once you can make sense of what is going on."
The Daughters' War by Christopher Buehlman
"I wanted to like this a bit more, I truly did. The Buehlman brand of humor is still present, but felt somewhat forced this time around. The story itself, while nuanced, was a bit of a let down and rehashing much of the same. Oh well, onwards."
The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman
"Okay, this was a really rad read. Since I've read Between Two Fires, Buehlman jumped up in my trad TBR significantly. Blacktongue leans on familiar tropes and bends them in a funny (both haha and odd) way. The result is a boldly told tale of apprehen" Read more of this review »
Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson
"I've embarked on the Malazan journey by re-reading Gardens of the Moon. Better than I remember, honestly. Since I've authored a few books since then, I can appreciate what Erikson does with the craft and story a lot more. Excellent."
