Light is a symbol of his spark for discovery and how he sees the world and socialising as a beautiful thing when is happy. This is represented in his warm hometown in Geneva. Ice shown as Frankenstain represents Viktor isolating himself and him becoming sick. When he separates from society and it focusing on bringing the monster to life he becomes cold of heart and doesn't stay in touch with his family. This is also represented when they travel to the snowy mountains and he is chasing the monster. Also in the book there are themes of you don't know what you have until it is gone. Viktor thinks nothing of sacrificing time with his family when he building the monster. it is only after when he fears them being killed by it that he is scared of losing time with them. With Frankenstein one main theme is that he was not born a Monster he was turned into one over time. Intially when he was created if he has received the love and acceptance of his father he may have turned out differently. It is only when he is rejected by Viktor and everyone else in the world that his lack of companionship turns him into the monster.
