I live on a ridge in Southern Indiana with my wife and son. We enjoy hunting and fishing and spending time together doing different events around the area. It is a great place to live, and it's a great place to write!

I have always written stories. My earliest memories will be in 2nd and 3rd grade in elementary school, but in first grade I won our reading contest. I loved books and I loved to write.

In 4th and 5th grade, my teacher let me set up a table and sell my stories for 25 cents each (this would have been 1979-1980). Not only did I sell stories to the other kids who loved them, but some of my teachers would buy the stories as well...not to show support mind you, but they just enjoyed the stories.

In 5th or 6th grade I went to the young

Thank you for the nice compliment! I thoroughly enjoyed creating the Marsh Adventure characters as the story progressed. Richard Adams, Watership Down, was the most influential author and book I would also add E.B. White (Charlotte's Web) and Rudyard Kipling (Rikki Tikki Tavi). I am sure other books in my childhood had influence, but I cannot recall the names. I will say, The Sun Also Sets, my second book, is completely different - and I can see fans of the Marsh Adventures not liking The Sun Also Sets. I do plan to come out with the prequal to Of Times and Places in 2025. Thank you again and enjoy reading!(less)

My motto is to write something in the old-style but with fresh ideas. Charles Dickens, Jules Verne, Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Nathaniel Hawthorne. Those would be my top picks with a lot of "runner-ups" after this. I should throw in Ernest Hemingway, although he is not one of the Classic authors. (less)

The Message Countdown has begun

I released the book trailer for The Message today, with a target release date of November 22, 2025—more on the date at the end.

For those who have followed me, The Message has been a bane...not that I didn't like it; I do. It was one of my favorite books I have written, and possibly my most exciting. It has been the journey - written over two years ago, when my son was 7, it took two years to clean Read more of this blog post »

I bought this book in June at Hutch's 100th birthday party. It took some time to read, and I interjected a couple of smaller books in between the reading.

So, I love this book... but that doesn't mean everyone else will. I know Hutch (the author); he

I am sure the author meant this to be an informative book, and it is, but I am not sure if he intended any tone to it. Be that happy or sad, it is just supposed to be about a town and a time in history. However, the more I read, the more depressing a ...more

“Be wise, my friend. Don't outfight him; outsmart him!" - Kincaide”

“...all insects lived and died in the marsh, interpreting all sounds correctly…or incorrectly.”

“What does God know then...Chee..ma?" The tall doctor thought he had finally found his mark.

Still looking down, Chima set the glass aside and wiped his hands on a neat white apron that hung around his waist. He spoke with clarity as he placed both hands on the bar's edge - "God knows you aren't coming back from this safari alive.”
