Doug Schwartz's family-friendly fantasy stories are filled with hope and possibility. Using a simplistic style, he spins common words into abstract concepts. Doug blends ideas to develop colorful characters who find creative solutions to obscure challenges, resulting in adventures that are quirky, whimsical fun. Heavily influenced by British media, he draws inspiration from sources like Neil Gaiman, Monty Python, and Doctor Who, to name a few. Doug's unique style of writing compliments the works of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett.

I reread Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Restaurant at the End of the Universe, followed by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Also, my boss had asked us to read The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. In my opinion, he needs to reread it a little more carefully the next time around. Also, to help with my writing, I skimmed The Anatomy of Story, and read through a couple of current WIPs. However, I did pick up a couple of old school SciFi/Fantasy books: two Alan Dean Foster books (Quozl and Impossible Places) and one Ray Bradbury (The Illustrated Man). I'm sure I read something else in there, but I can't remember what and I forgot to update Goodreads.(less)

How I Would Save the World

As a fiction author, I enjoy thinking of creative solutions for problems. Isn't that true for most stories? The author paints the character into a corner and writes about how they figure their way out?

In this blog, I contemplate ideas for potentially saving the world. Or, at least taking steps in the right direction:
