Stanley is always at the wrong place at the wrong time. He blames it on his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather. He gets framed and is sentenced to eighteen months at camp green lake. At camp green lake, they dig holes to supposedly build character. However, the boys there suspect something is being hidden from them, and they are going to "dig" to the bottom of this. In the novel, they make Stanley a heavy set boy with no courage. I dont like that he is fat in the book. In the movie he was skinny, and he was played by Shia Labough. Now when I think of Stanley Yelnats, I picture Shia Labough, not a fat kid. Also, I thought the book should have been a little bit less juvenile. The pros of this book definatly out weigh the cons. Louis Sachar was a genious the way he tied everyone together. Everybody was connected, whether it was their ancestors or friends. I enjoyed the humor of the four generations of Stanleys, all being the reverse of their last name. I liked the way Zero and Stanley came together, and they had each others back. I have read it six times, and it is my second favorite to Mario Puzo's "The Godfather"....more

I liked the way Rook made the head vampire an ancient god. If you enjoy supernatural action, then you won't put down the Vampire Plagues Trilogy....more
